Windows 10 is out soon, should I upgrade?

Windows 10

The Windows 10 free upgrade is available July 29th, but unless you are already well-informed with the advantages of Windows 10 we recommend that you wait before upgrading as the offer will be available for a year.

What does this mean for you?
If you do decide to upgrade there are some requirements and restrictions:

  • It will require a 3GB download which may overflow your internet data usage
  • Playing DVD’s is not supported but can be resolved by using free VLC Media Player
  • Your computer or some programs may not be supported, this can be checked using the Windows 10 compatibility app

Once you have upgraded or when the operating system becomes stable you can look forward to new features like a revamped start screen, faster file searching and faster startup and shutdown times.

The Windows 10 compatibility app assessment can be seen by following the steps below:

  1. Click the newly appeared Windows logo in the bottom right of the taskbar.

  2. Click the three bars in the top left.

  3. If all is well you will see the words Your PC is ready otherwise you can click what you see in its place from this screenshot to see any compatibility issues your computer has with Windows 10.
